The New York Giants exercised their 2015 contract option on cornerback Prince Amukamara, according to multiple media reports Thursday.

Amukamara, 24, will get a salary equal to the average of the top 25 highest-paid corners in the league, according to option rules for first-round picks. That is believed to be around $7 million, but it is a non-guaranteed deal, according to the New York Daily News. He will make $1.5 million this season.

The Giants can still negotiate a long-term extension with the corner, and they could still cut him and not pay his salary in 2015.

The Giants took Amukamara with the No. 19 pick in the 2011 draft. He started all 16 games in 2013, making 85 tackles. He has just three career interceptions.
