New York Mets pitcher Matt Harvey is aiming for June 10 to begin pitching off a mound in the next phase of his rehabilitation since undergoing elbow surgery last fall.
Harvey, who had Tommy John surgery to repair the elbow in his pitching arm, went from playing catch at 90 feet to 120 feet on Friday.
The right-hander is holding out hope of pitching this season, which would be well ahead of schedule in his recovery. But the Mets are not likely to allow that to take place.
The 24-year-old Harvey started 26 games for the Mets last year and posted a 9-5 record with a 2.27 ERA before the injury.
