Oakland Athletics pitcher A.J. Griffin is facing Tommy John reconstructive elbow surgery, according to a CBSSports.com report on Tuesday.

Griffin has not pitched since spring training and the team has yet to acknowledge that the young pitcher will need the surgery. If the right-hander does undergo the procedure, Griffin likely will be out until early next season.

The 26-year-old posted a 14-10 record with a 3.83 ERA and 171 strikeouts while pitching 200 innings last year for the Athletics, who won the American League West championship.

Fellow Athletics pitcher Jarrod Parker had his second career Tommy John surgery this year.
