Oakland Athletics owner Lew Wolff has agreed to extend the contracts of general manager Billy Beane and team president Michael Crowley through the 2019 season. The deals are in the process of being finalized, Wolff confirmed to the Associated Press.

Beane has been the team's general manager since 1997. Oakland finished 74-88 last year, the fifth losing season in a row.

The 49-year-old was listed as one of the Top 10 General Managers/Executives of the Decade by Sports Illustrated in 2009 and was the subject of Michael Lewis' 2003 book on baseball statistics and economics titled "Moneyball."
