The NHL schedule will open the 2012-13 season with four games, two in the U.S. and two in Canada.

The league unveiled the schedule Thursday that features the Boston Bruins travelling to the Philadelphia Flyers and the Montreal Canadiens hosting the Ottawa Senators in early games. Later that night, Vancouver will head to Calgary while Colorado will host St. Louis.

One night later, the Los Angeles Kings will raise the franchise's first Stanley Cup championship banner in its 45-year history, when they host the New York Rangers. The Kings will play the Devils, the team they beat in the Stanley Cup Final, once this season, on Feb. 9 at New Jersey.

The annual Winter Classic will be held New Year's Day at Michigan Stadium on the campus of the University of Michigan, and will feature the Detroit Red Wings and Toronto Maple Leafs.
