UCF downed East Carolina 40-20 Thursday night in front of a national TV audience.

After trailing 14-0 early in the game, the Knights (3-2) outscored the Pirates (3-3) 40-6.

Edgewater High School's Quincy McDuffie sparked the Knights with a 99-yard kickoff return and 64-yard reception, both of which went for touchdowns.

Oviedo's Blake Bortles threw for a career high 269 yards on 15 completions for UCF.

UCF next welcomes Southern Miss to Orlando on Oct. 13.
