Celebrate an Authentic Cinco de Mayo at Epcot
Most people know Cinco de Mayo as a time for adults to imbibe - often with neon-green drinks. But the folks who run Epcot's Mexico Pavilion restaurants are offering up a taste of authenticity.
They point out Cinco de Mayo celebrates the Battle of Puebla and they are doing it with dishes and drinks inspired by the Central Mexican culture of Puebla.
Epcot's Mexico is home to La Cava del Tequila -- a bar with an insane selection of tequila.
For May 5th -- they are promising Banderitas (3 shots of tequila, lime juice, and sangrita that resemble the Mexican flag) as well as a horchata margarita made with horchata - a traditional Mexican beverage made with rice, cinnamon, lime and sugar.
Both the eternally moonlit "San Angel Inn" -- and "La Hacienda de San Angel" on the waterfront are promising authentic dishes from the Puebla region.
Their chef is recommending Chile en Nogada. That's egg battered peppers stuffed with pork, almonds, raisins, apples, pineapples and tomatoes. On top? a walnut cream sauce. There are also special appetizers, and deserts -- including what Epcot calls "Camotes en Leche Condensada: Sweet potato dessert topped condensed milk, garnished with almond brittle"
Disney is making Cinco de Mayo their latest Limited Time Magic celebration.
Many of you know the ride in Mexico is based on Disney's movie "The Three Caballeros"
During the celebration, May 5-11 -- guests will also get to meet all 3 Caballeros in person -- Panchito Pistoles, Jose Carioca -- and of course el Pato Donald (Donald Duck)
