Now if they can only do this for 79 more games...
Everything was clicking for the Magic in Friday night's season opener against the New Orleans Pelicans. Taking control in the 2nd quarter, the Magic cruised to a 110-90 win over the Pelicans, their largest margin of victory since Nov. 2012.
Two players stood out. Second-year forward Maurice Harkless scored 20 points while Arron Afflalo exploded for a game-high 30.
However, Head Coach Jacque Vaughn credited the win to overall team effort.
In front of 18,846 fans, the Magic shot a collective 55 percent from the floor, made 11 of their 22 three-point attempts, dished out 22 assists, and pulled down 44 rebounds, finishing with one of the most attractive box scores in 12 months.
Winter Park grad Austin Rivers scored 3 points for the Pelicans in 13 minutes of action.
As of Friday night, at 1 & 2, the Orlando Magic have the same record as the defending NBA champion Miami Heat.
The Magic are back in action on Sunday, hosting the Brooklyn Nets at 6 at the Amway Center.
