Our fourth edition of ClickOrlando.com's high school game of the week featured the perennial powerhouse Olympia Titans going on the road to face off against the equally matched Timber Creek Wolves Friday night.
If you have never been to a game at Timber Creek High School, I highly suggest it. The crowd, both home and away, are engaging and exciting, the environment is great for families and for the kids, and most importantly, the football is usually above par on both sidelines.
Friday night proved the statement above true again.
The game saw multiple lead changes between Olympia and Timber Creek and the action in the first half carried over into the second half. The first half ended with the Wolves of Timber Creek being down 7-13, that is before Senior Linebacker Corey Russo would intercept the Olympia pass and take it to the house, putting the Wolves up 14-13 going into the locker room for halftime.
When the second half began, the hits became harder and the intensity went up a notch. You could just feel that both teams wanted this game.
Both teams defenses did a well job of keeping star running backs Ryan Bishop of Olympia and Kyle Snead of Timber Creek grounded for the game. Neither were able to really break any big runs as both teams' defenses stood tall and gave some ground, but never broke.
Some players having notable nights on the defensive side of the ball were Jimmy Roberts and Mat Verdon of the Wolves and Ramar Dennis and James Hamilton of the Titans. Hamilton often played the defensive and offensive sides of the ball, causing havoc wherever and whoever he lined up against.
The Timber Creek Wolves were able to take the lead with 7 minutes left in the 4th quarter, only to see that lead be squashed away nearly a minute later as the Titans would score and eventually go on to win the game by a margin of 26-22.
