Texas Rangers outfielder Shin-Soo Choo will have season-ending surgery to remove a bone spur from his left elbow, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported.
Choo signed a seven-year, $130 million contract over the winter to join the Rangers, but he hit just .242 with a .340 on-base percentage to along with 13 homers and 40 RBIs in 123 games. Last season with Cincinnati, Choo hit .285 with 21 homers and had an on-base percentage of .423.
Choo, 32, had an ankle injury early in the season and has been bothered by the bone spur most of the season.
The Dallas Morning News reported that Rangers pitcher Yu Darvish is unlikely to pitch again this season.
