Extreme cold postpones Orlando City soccer match

Lions game versus New England moved to September

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – Orlando City's game scheduled for Saturday has been postponed to September because of extreme cold weather predicted to hit the New England area over the weekend.

The Lions first road match of the season against the New England Revolution will now be played Sept. 2. at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts.

"The decision to postpone the match was made by Major League Soccer and both clubs after forecasts of temperatures in the low 20s at kickoff, with a potential windchill in single digits," Orlando City said on its website. "Additionally, (a storm) is expected to bring heavy snow to southern New England on Friday."

Orlando City opened the 2017 season Sunday with a 1-0 win at home against New York City FC.
