Chicago beats Orlando Pride 1-0 in rain-delayed match

Pride's receives 1st loss this season

ORLANDO, Fla. – Orlando Pride fell to the Chicago Red Stars Saturday 1-0, the only loss this season for the team.

“It was a little bit disappointing in the end to be honest," Pride head coach Tom Sermanni said. "I was happy with the effort of the team. I thought we put in a good effort tonight. We kept going to the end. The last 10 minutes we kept going and going and credit to Chicago who held out."

After the game was delayed for nearly an hour due to a brief storm, play resumed.

In Kaitlyn Savage's second match of the season, she finished the night with seven saves.

"I thought at times (our) execution wasn’t as good as it should have been," Sermanni said. "I thought at times the tempo of how we played could have been better. I thought we started OK, but it dropped off. Other than that it was a tight game.”

The Pride will start a two-game road trip next week before taking nearly a month off due to the Olympics.

The Pride returns to Camping World Stadium Aug. 26, when they will host the Washington Spirit at 7:30 p.m.
