ORLANDO, Fla. – Hoping to boost UCF's chances in the fast-approaching 2017 season, coach Tiffany Roberts Sahaydak announced the addition of six new players to the women's soccer team, including two freshmen forwards from Germany.

Adding two more freshmen defenders, a freshmen midfielder and junior forward, the Knights now have 27 players on a roster that will play its first game at Miami for an exhibition match, Aug. 9.

"It's been a long process of identifying and recruiting players to carry on the winning tradition of our program," head coach Tiffany Roberts Sahaydak said in a UCFKnights.com press release. "I certainly believe that we've accomplished that goal with this group. The wealth of talent and experience that we've added strikes me as a defining characteristic of this signing class. I'm confident that many of these players will prove to make an immediate impact this season."

Opening the 2017 campaign Aug. 18 on the road against South Carolina, the Knights will then come back to Orlando to host Stetson in the home opener. Playing nine matches at home this year, the Knights will also be hosting four teams that earned NCAA Tournament bids just a year ago.

Hoping to get some extra firepower against visiting teams like UNC, the Knights added players such as German freshman forwards Stefanie Sanders and Dina Orschmann, two players who have both played with the German national team.

Sanders, who has competed with the U16, U17, U19 and U20 teams, was also a member of the German National U17 and U20 World Cup teams. The top scorer for the 2015 U17 European Championship team, Sanders also was the leading scorer for both the 2013-14 and 2014-15 SV Werder Bremen clubs.

Orschmann shares a similar resume, appearing on the U19 and U20 German National Team. Competing as part of the German U20 World Cup Team, the freshman also competed with the U19 German National Team in the European Championship. She was also the league- leading scorer with FC Union Berlin in the 2015 season.

More information on the six newcomers can be found in the original release.
