US sees first total eclipse since 1979

ORLANDO, Fla. – Millions of Americans turned skyward Monday as a total solar eclipse moved across the country, turning day into night in more than a dozen states.

It marked the first total solar eclipse seen only in the United States since 1776, and it's the first one visible from the contiguous U.S. since 1979.
