A man in Portland, Maine found a yellow lobster that is considered to be 30 times more rare than a blue lobster, according to a report.
Lobsterman David Percy said he was hauling in his traps near Whale Back Island when he noticed something unusual.
"I pulled it up and there was a bunch of lobsters in there. I noticed the orange, but I just figured it was a piece of trash or something," he said.
The piece of trash turned out to be a yellow lobster -- so rare that it comes in one in 30 million.
"It's actually 30 times rarer than a blue lobster," said Jonathan Grabowski of the Gulf of Maine Research Institute.
During the previous week, lobsterman Shane Hatch picked up a yellow lobster near Rockland, Maine.
"I was hoping to keep it in a crate and see what it would do when it shed and then maybe take the shell and mount it, but somehow, it managed its way" to the Rockland Cafe, Hatch said.
"It's a great conversation piece, especially with all the tourists. Most of them have never seen a lobster to begin with and then they want to know why there's one that's discolored," Robbins said. "I've lived here 40 years and never seen one."
The lobster may be headed to an aquarium.
Percy plans to return his catch back to the ocean.
