Local 6 is continuing commitment to the community and partnering with the local chapter of the American Cancer Society.

Almost everyone is somehow touched by cancer and WKMG Local 6 is no exception. Recently, Jessica Sanchez, Local 6 Morning News Anchor announced she is battling Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.

In an effort to support the thousands of people in the community touched by cancer and to support Jessica Sanchez, Local 6 has teamed up with the Relay for Life of Apopka
Saturday at Apopka High School.

Local 6 Morning News Anchor Matt Austin, Bridgett Ellison, and Meteorologist Troy Bridges will kick off the event at 2 p.m. In attendance will be WKMG anchors, reporters and Local 6 team members who would like to show support for the community and their co-worker, Jessica Sanchez.

“Many of Jessica’s viewers have emailed us wanting to know how they can support her in this difficult battle. I believe partnering with the American Cancer Society is a great way for our viewers to not only support Jessica but all of those in Central Florida suffering and bravely fighting this disease,” said Skip Valet, Vice President and General Manager, WKMG-TV Local 6. I encourage everyone to start their own team and come out and support our team “Local 6 Supports Jessica Sanchez.”

Local 6 will be on site with a “Jessica Sanchez Well Wishes” board that viewers can sign and will be later presented to Jessica.
