Local 6 presented WAVE award for 'favorite local TV station'
Skip Valet accepts award
The readers have spoken, and Local 6 is the No. 1 TV station in Orlando, according to Watermark.
Watermark, a media company using opportunities and innovations to communicate and advance LGBT interests, presented Local 6 with a "WAVE" award on Tuesday, after its viewers voted Local 6 as the "favorite local TV station" in Orlando. WAVE stands for Watermark Achievement in Variety and Excellence.
Local 6 was No. 1 in both rounds of voting, according to Jeremy Williams, a Watermark representative.
Williams on Tuesday presented the award to Local 6 general manager Skip Valet.
“This is quite an honor and we thank the readers of Watermark for their votes of confidence in Local 6. We humbly accept this gesture as proof our many community initiatives continue to resonate with our viewers," Valet said.
Watermark was founded by publisher Tom Dyer in Orlando in 1994 and expanded to Tampa Bay in 1995. Dyer is an attorney, former board member of the Metropolitan Business Association and Tampa International Gay & Lesbian Film Festival, and current advisory board member of the Harvey Milk Foundation.
