Antivirus Company IDs 5 Most Dangerous Free Downloads

Five programs available for free on the Internet put computer users at highest risk for identity theft, according to a popular antivirus software maker.

McAfee officials said the most dangerous downloads are reality-show screensavers that do not come from official television network Web sties.

Screensavers from Hollywood movies and those that feature sports stars are the Nos. 2 and 3 most risky programs, the report said.

Then, the company said to beware of sites that offer emoticons.

Finally, MP3 sharing programs or free MP3 sites were labeled the fifth most risky category for downloadable programs.

Officials said all of the free downloads can install viruses or programs to steal personal information.
