NASA aims to launch its first post-Columbia shuttle mission during a shortened nine-day window March, according to Local 6 News partner Florida Today.

The report said failure to launch during the 9-day window would reportedly delay a planned return to flight until at least May.

Agency officials said that they are making steady progress on finishing work ordered by Columbia accident investigators and would keep striving to meet the narrower window, which originally covered 57 days in March and April, Florida Today reported.

NASA is looking to launch Discovery to the International Space Station between March 16 and March 25. The agency previously had set up a launch window that extended from March 6 to April 18.
