Disney World unveils 'Maleficent' parade float

Float will be added to Magic Kingdom parade in spring 2014

ORLANDO, Fla. – Maleficent, the infamous villain from "Sleeping Beauty," will join the Magic Kingdom "Festival of Fantasy" parade in the spring of 2014.

Disney World unveiled the first images of the villain's new float on Monday. The dragon-themed float is 35 feet long and 26 feet high and mixes in colors such as metallic purple, silver, black and gold.

The float was designed by Tony Award-winner Michael Curry, who helped Disney World on previous projects including "Finding Nemo - The Musical" at Animal Kingdom.

Each of the floats in the Fantasyland parade appears "as though the characters…may have had a hand in crafting them," according to the Disney Parks blog.
