PT Cruiser crashes into trailer stopped on shoulder, FHP says

A man and woman were killed Sunday night in a crash on the Florida Turnpike in Orange County, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Troopers said David Howard, 39, and Michelle Green, 41, both of Clermont, died in the crash, which was reported at 9 p.m. in the southbound lanes of the Turnpike near State Road 429.

The FHP said Howard was driving a PT Cruiser when he left the road for an unknown reason and struck the rear of a trailer that was unoccupied and stopped on the shoulder.

Howard and Green, who were both wearing their seat belts, were pronounced dead at the scene, the FHP said.

No other details have been released.
