Driver Crashed Into Pickup, DeLand Police Say

DeLAND, Fla. -- A 29-year-old DeLand firefighter was killed in a crash Tuesday morning when his motorcycle collided into a pickup, police said.The man, whose name has not been released, was driving his motorcycle at about 6:30 a.m. on state Road 44, west of Interstate 4 at Grimm Lane, when the bike crashed into the pickup, DeLand police said. Paramedics were unable to revive the man.It's unknown if the firefighter, who worked at the DeLand Fire Station, was wearing a helmet.Flags at the fire station are flying at half-staff.An investigation into the crash is ongoing.Watch Local 6 News for more on this story.
