OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. -- Dense fog causing zero visibility likely caused a fatal crash Tuesday morning on state Road 60 in Osceola County, deputies said.
A sport utility vehicle and a tractor-trailer crashed in the eastbound lanes of state Road 60 at River Ranch near the Osceola-Polk county line and the Kissimmee River.
The person who was killed was in the SUV, said Polk County sheriff's deputies, who responded with other agencies to the accident.
Eastbound and westbound lanes of state Road 60 have been closed from Yeehaw Junction to River Ranch, and the Florida Highway Patrol is urging drivers to avoid the area.
Polk County sheriff's deputies said there was near-zero visibility in the area because of dense fog.
A dense fog advisory for most of Central Florida expired at 9 a.m.
