A pedestrian struck by a vehicle and killed Wednesday morning in Orlando has been identified.

Jose Luis Negron, 44, of Orlando, was struck by a 2005 four-door Mazda driven by Omar Ortiz, 42, of Orlando, at about 5:35 a.m. at the intersection of Boggy Creek and Beth roads, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

According to troopers, the Mazda was traveling southbound on Boggy Creek Road when Negron, who was a passenger in a disabled vehicle on the west shoulder of the roadway, walked into the path of the car.

The FHP report said alcohol was not a factor in the crash.

Boggy Creek Road was reopened after an investigation into the incident.
