Maitland, I-4 west exit ramp to open Sunday morning

Weather delays ramp opening, FDOT says

MAITLAND, Fla. – Due to inclement weather conditions, the new westbound Interstate 4 exit ramp to westbound Maitland Boulevard and northbound Lake Destiny Road has been rescheduled to open Sunday morning.

The change was originally set for Saturday morning. News 6 Traffic anchor Amy Biondello provided all the details earlier in the day.

“This is one of the last changes," Florida Department of Transportation public information specialist Jessica Ottaviano said. "It's one of seven that we've done here at the Maitland interchange. This will be like this for quite some time, so it's a long term."

One more change will affect drivers this weekend.

Drivers traveling on I-4 west will need to exit about a half mile sooner to take the exit specific to westbound Maitland Boulevard and Lake Destiny. The exit location is changing as is the path of the ramp.

“So you'll get off about a half mile sooner, travel down here. You'll make a decision. So if you want to go on Lake Destiny you'll want to stay to your right. If you want to stay on Maitland Boulevard westbound, you need to stay to the left and approach this signal," Ottaviano said. "Lake Destiny will veer to the right and it will allow you to have a free-flowing movement to Lake Destiny where you won't even have to even go near westbound Maitland Boulevard traffic.”
