Car topples utility pole in Orange County; Colonial Drive reopens

No one seriously injured in crash

ORLANDO, Fla. – A car crashed into a utility pole early Wednesday in Orange County, downing lines and forcing officials to close a major roadway.

The crash happened around 3 a.m. on East Colonial Drive at Goldenrod Road in Orlando.

Colonial Drive, which was closed in both directions, reopened around 8 a.m.

According to investigators, a driver cut off a Chevrolet Impala, causing it to crash into the pole, which was toppled.

The driver who caused the crash did not stop, officials said.

Two women, ages 21 and 31, were in the car that crashed but were not seriously injured, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Duke Energy and AT&T crews replaced the pole and repaired the downed lines.
