DeLand police search for driver involved in hit-and-run

One woman injured, taken to hospital, police say

Police say this vehicle may have been used in a hit-and-run.

DELAND, Fla. – DeLand police are searching for the driver involved in a hit-and-run that left a woman injured Friday morning, police said.

Officers responded to an area near the intersection of South Florida and West Hubbard avenues around 8:15 a.m. after witnesses found a woman in the roadway, DeLand police said.

Witnesses told police that shortly before the woman was found, they saw a bus traveling east on Hubbard Avenue before hearing a loud crash, police said.

Officers said the woman suffered a head injury and was taken to Halifax Health Medical Center.

Based off information at the scene, police said they believe the woman was hit by a bluish-green Toyota driven by another woman. Officers said the car likely has front-end damage.
