FHP: Driver traveling 100 mph killed in I-4 crash

Infinity SUV crashed into back of box truck, FHP says

LAKE MARY, Fla. – A 33-year-old Lake Mary man was killed early Friday when his sport utility vehicle -- traveling at more than 100 mph -- slammed into the rear of a box truck on Interstate 4 in Seminole County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

David McKenna was killed in the crash when his Infinity SUV crashed into truck around 2:45 a.m. in the westbound lanes of I-4 near County Road 46A in Lake Mary.

The truck driver, Mark Reich, 50, of Lakeland, was taken to South Seminole Hospital with minor injuries.

Troopers said McKenna was driving in the center lane of I-4 and failed to slow down as his SUV approached and hit the truck.

The debris field was about 200 yards long, troopers said.

It's not known if alcohol played a role in the crash or if McKenna was wearing a seat belt, according to an FHP report.

An investigation is ongoing.
