Driver dies after being run over several times in Seminole County

LAKE MARY, Fla. – A motorcyclist was killed and his 13-year-old passenger was injured in a crash on Interstate 4 in Seminole County, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

A man whose name has not been released was killed and Charles Randall Johnston Jr., of Winter Park, suffered minor injuries in the crash, which happened around 9:10 p.m. on I-4 westbound near Lake Mary Boulevard, troopers said.

According to the FHP, a 2005 Honda motorcycle was traveling westbound on I-4 when the driver lost control and crashed, ejecting the man and Johnston.

The boy was able to get off the highway, but the man was struck by an unknown number of vehicles and was pronounced dead at the scene, troopers said.

The boy was taken to Arnold Palmer Hospital.

It's not known if alcohol played a role in the crash, which remains under investigation, troopers said.

The FHP said several drivers contacted authorities saying they may have driven through the accident debris field. Troopers are asking anyone who may have driven through the scene after the crash to call the FHP at 407-737-2213.
