I-4 lanes reopen after 4-car fatal crash

1 person suffered critical burns

ORLANDO, Fla. – All Interstate 4 westbound lanes were back open at Lake Mary Boulevard after traffic was slowed for hours due to a multi-car fatal accident.

Helicopter footage showed four cars involved in a crash.

Traffic was backed up from exit 98 to mile marker 101 for several hours as only one westbound lane was open.

The crash, which involved two cars on fire, was reported just after 6 p.m., the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Troopers said the driver of a SUV, Chemwapuwa Jackson, 31, rear ended a Jeep Cherokee with two men inside, starting a chain reaction crash.

Both the SUV and the Jeep caught fire.

The driver of the Jeep was airlifted to Orlando Regional Medical Center with critical burns. The passenger of the Jeep died. The names of both men were not immediately released.

Jackson was taken to Central Florida Regional Hospital with minor injuries, said troopers.

One other driver involved in the crash, Valerie Dominique, 30, suffered minor injuries and was also taken to Central Florida Regional Hospital.
