Man standing on tracks struck, killed by train in Holly Hill

Police work to ID man

HOLLY HILL, Fla. – A man was struck and killed by a train early Tuesday in Volusia County, officials said.

The fatal crash was reported at 1:05 a.m. at 3rd Street near U.S. 1 in Holly Hill.

According to Holly Hill police, police were called to the area and found the body of what appeared to be an white man.

The train conductor said the man was standing on the tracks facing the train at the intersection of 3rd Street, according to police. The conductor said the man did not try get out of the way and was struck, according to police.

The identity of the man is not known. It's also not known why he was on the tracks.
