MERRITT ISLAND, Fla. – A 44-year-old Merritt Island woman was struck and killed by a pickup truck early Tuesday in Brevard County, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
The fatal crash was reported on Banana Drive near the Beachline on Merritt Island.

Troopers said the woman, whose name was not released, walked into the path of the Toyota Tacoma while crossing the street and was struck and killed. She was not in a crosswalk, the FHP said.
The FHP said there's no indication that the 60-year-old driver was speeding.
An investigation is ongoing, but the driver will not face charges, the FHP said.
