Woman's body found along St. Cloud road

Victim struck by vehicle in hit-and-run, Florida Highway Patrol says

ST. CLOUD, Fla. – A woman's body was found Wednesday on a St. Cloud roadway after she was struck in a hit-and-run crash, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The body of 34-year-old Nicole Yeomans was discovered near the intersection of U.S. 192 and Crabgrass Road.

Troopers said the Yeomans' boyfriend found the body about 15 feet off the road.

"It breaks my heart because my sister's gone," said Yeomans' sister, Belinda Richey. "I hope whoever did this to her, I hope they catch them and put them away because my sister didn't deserve to die."

Troopers said they believe the crash occurred sometime after 5 a.m. and that Yeomans was carrying a small dog. The dog was found on Wednesday unharmed, east of the crash.

"It's cold-hearted," Richey said. "How can you just hit somebody and leave them on the side of the road to die?"

Grieving relatives say troopers think whoever hit Yeomans was driving almost 70 mph, and fog may have been a problem.

"If it was foggy and you didn't see her, it still falls back to when you hit something, you feel a bump," said Patricia Martinez, Yeomans' mother. "I still have the hardest time to believe that my child is dead."
