SANDUSKY, Ohio -- Cedar Point announced Monday its plans to open a new record-breaking thrill ride for its 2006 season.
The Sandusky amusement park will be building a $6 million ride called Skyhawk.
Standing 103 feet above the ground, the new ride will be the tallest of its kind in the world. It will feature two giant swinging arms, and riders will be pushed toward the sky and rush back down toward the earth at speeds of up to 60 mph in both directions.
Each ride will be about 2 minutes long. The ride will be ready for operation by the opening weekend of the 2006 season.
Cedar Point also announced that it will be reducing ticket prices next season. The regular adult ticket will cost $39.95, a reduction of $5 from last season.
Also, junior tickets for guests under 48 inches and senior tickets will be reduced from $24.95 to $9.95.
This is the first time since the park implemented a pay-one-price ticket program that the one-day ticket price has been decreased.
