A suspected tornado Thursday night damaged at least three homes and tore down power lines in Oakland, Fla., according to Local 6 News.
Police said strong winds ripped off roofs at the Lake Johns Hotel Apartments located on West Colonial Drive at about 6 p.m.
The damage to the apartments displaced at least six people because of severe damage to the buildings. The American Red Cross was attempting to find shelter for the families, according to a report.
The storm knocked out power in much of Oakland for at least an hour, Local 6 News reported.
The National Weather Service will likely be able to determine Friday whether the damage was caused by a tornado touchdown.
Several witnesses told Local 6 News that they saw a funnel cloud in the area before the damage.
