ORLANDO, Fla. -- A 15-foot possible sinkhole has opened at an Orlando apartment complex, likely the result of torrential rains that have fallen across the area for the last two days.
The hole, which is located in a parking lot of the Seville Place Apartments on North Pine Hills Road, has been roped off and work crews on Friday were trying to determine the best way to fix it.
No evacuations have been ordered.
The heavy rains have created small ponds in the parking lot, where Muscovy ducks have been wading.
Numerous retention ponds in Central Florida are quickly filling up, and several cities, especially in Marion County, are dealing with flooding.
Weekend Forecast
Heavy rain will once again be the problem in Central Florida on Friday, but the severe weather threat will stay south of Brevard County, Local 6 meteorologist Eric Wilson said.
After sunset Friday, the skies will clear and temperatures will drop overnight into the mid-50s.
The weekend will be mild, with mid-70s both Saturday and Sunday. Abundant sunshine is expected through next week.
