The threat of Hurricane Frances hitting Central Florida has homeowners now scrambling to clean up debris and repair damage left over from Hurricane Charley, according to Local 6 News.
Many neighborhoods are not near finishing repairs or cleaning yards from the extensive damage caused by Charley when it passed through the area Aug. 13.
Local 6 News reported that the piles of debris still in the Central Florida could turn into missiles if hurricane-force winds hit the area.
"This is no fooling time," Sen. Bill Nelson said. "This is a monster, this is a big, bad hurricane and we've already been through it once in this hurricane season with a bad one, so we better be prepared for this one."
Orange County has established free debris drop-off sites for those looking to quickly clean up the area around their homes. The locations are:
The Northwest water reclamation facility on 701 McCormick Road.
The faciltity at Fort Christmas on 1300 Fort Christmas Road.
The agricultural area on the corner of Judge Road and Conway Road.
Residents with questions about debris clean-up can call (407) 836-3111.
