Afternoon thunderstorms could fire up for Memorial Day as the rip current threat continues at Central Florida beaches.
"A weak ridge of high pressure will remain in place today ushering in a light easterly breeze," said News 6 meteorologist Candace Campos."The battle of the sea breezes will fire up afternoon thunderstorms primarily across inland counties, including Orange, Seminole and Osceola counties."

The heat and moisture combined with the sea breeze interaction will increase the potential for strong to severe storms by late Monday afternoon and into the early evening hours, Campos said.
Plenty of sunshine across Central Florida will help push highs into the upper 80s along the coast, and low 90s for inland neighborhoods on Monday.
As the holiday weekend continues, so does the threat for an enhanced threat for strong rip currents at local beaches. The greatest threat for rip currents this week will be Memorial Day. Always swim by a lifeguard and never swim alone. If you do feel like you are getting caught in the pull, remember to swim parallel to the shore until you feel the pull release.
Meanwhile, Tropical Depression Bonnie will spin in place over the Carolinas Monday keeping the East Coast under an unsettled weather pattern.
