Rain, storms popping up across Central Florida

Heavy rains expected

ORLANDO, Fla. – Heavy rains and storms are already making their way into Central Florida.  Combine that with the soaring temperatures makes for a 60 percent chance of rain Sunday.  Keep an eye to the sky.

Currently, temperatures are at 92 degrees but feels like 102.  Additionally, heavy rains are popping up everywhere, the strongest are in Sumter and Polk counties.  But the heat will continue to generate more storms everywhere.

Rain amounts could be high because these are going to be slow-moving storms allowing for a lot of accumulation. Amounts could be as high as 2-3 inches.  Be prepared to seek shelter as these storms will have frequent cloud-to-ground lightning and wind gusts up to 50 mph.

Temperatures are expected to top 90 degrees in all locations.

Lows Sunday night will drop to the mid to upper 70s and the comfort factor will be low.

There will be more of the same with a slightly lower chance of rain Monday but by Tuesday the rain chance jumps back up to 60 percent and stays there for the remainder of the week.

The tropics are quiet.
