ORLANDO, Fla. -

Meteorologists continue to track an area of low pressure in the Caribbean that has a better chance of developing in coming days.

The weather system is located near the Lesser Antilles and currently has a 20 percent chance of strengthening.

Computer models show the system passing over Hispaniola ,which would likely weaken it.  After that, however, the system has a 50 percent chance of strengthening as it heads on a projected path toward the Bahamas.

"We'll be keeping an eye on this, but it's too soon to tell if this system will have any impact on Florida or the United States," Local 6 meteorologist Troy Bridges said.

The next named storm will be called Gabrielle.
