Cold continues to keep grip on Central Florida

Freeze watch issued in Marion, Flagler counties

ORLANDO, Fla. – Another cold morning awaits Central Floridians.

Afternoon high temperatures stayed in the 50s Wednesday, and the overnight low will dip into the 30s in the Orlando area early Thursday. Northern counties, including Marion and Flagler, are under a freeze watch

Several local shelters will be open Wednesday night because of the cold weather.

Orlando Union Rescue Mission is opening its doors to men seeking shelter at the OURM Men's Center overnight until Thursday morning. The Rescue Mission is located at 410 West Central Boulevard in Orlando and can be contacted at 407-423-3596.

The Coalition for the Homeless has also declared it a "cold night" and will not refuse anyone seeking shelter from the cold. The Coalition is located at 639 West Central Boulevard and at 107 East Hillcrest Street in downtown Orlando. 

In Brevard County, shelters will remain open. Brevard Sharing Center on 113 Aurora Street in Cocoa opens its cold weather shelter when temperatures fall below 45 degrees overnight, News 6 partner Florida Today reports. 321-631-0306.

Thursday's high in Orlando will hit 63 degrees, with overnight lows early Friday in the mid-40s.

Dry conditions will linger in Central Florida.

"Rain chances are out of the picture altogether as more cool dry air works in behind the front," Bridges said. "The next chance of rain returns on Monday."

Afternoon high temperatures gradually warm into the low 70s by the end of the week.

"Another front brings cooler temperatures by Valentine's Day on Sunday, with a high of 64," Bridges said.
