River levels on the St. Johns River above Lake Harney near Geneva are expected to slowly rise to action stage late this weekend and remain elevated into next week. At action stage, the river's surface is near or slightly above the top of its banks, but no man-made structures are flooded, the release stated.

Minimal structure damage has been reported. Many roads still remain impassable. As of 10:30 a.m. Saturday, 2,242 customers were without power in the Astor area alone, with Clay Electric working to restore power. Customers should call 888-434-9844 to report outages.

According to the release, when roads are accessible again, Lake and Sumter Emergency Recovery will able to offer assistance for residents affected by Hurricane Matthew. Volunteers are available to help cut debris with chainsaws, install free tarps and provide flood buckets.

To request help, or to report any damage to structures, call the Lake County citizens information line at 352-343-9999. To sign up for the latest emergency notifications or for more information about emergency management, visit its website.
