The National Hurricane Center took down the hurricane watch Friday evening and told Scott that, at this time, hurricane conditions are unlikely. The tropical storm has slowed down so the timeline for it reaching land has been pushed back.
Scott said 2-4 feet of storm surge is expected in the panhandle and up to 10 inches of rain. He warned against rip currents, tides, beach conditions, standing water and downed power lines. The storm is currently in the Gulf of Mexico.
A group of 20 national guardsmen have already been activated as the state prepares for the worse.
