ORLANDO, Fla. -

As a polar vortex grips much of the United States, frigid air moved into Central Florida, prompting freeze warnings and watches across the region.

"Wind chills in Central Florida start out in the 20s Wednesday morning," Local 6 meteorologist Troy Bridges said.  "The high temperature will warm to 56 degrees, with sunny skies."

The average high temperature in Orlando is 71 degrees.

Overnight, low temperatures will again plummet into the 30s.

Thursday's high will be in the mid-60s, but temperatures drop into the mid-30s by early Friday morning.

There's no chance of rain in Central Florida through the weekend.
