Heat continues throughout Memorial Day weekend in Central Florida

Temps to flirt with record high Monday

ORLANDO, Fla. – Central Florida is getting even hotter Sunday and will be flirting with a record high Monday.

Most of Central Florida will reach the mid- to high 90s and the east coast will even reach the low 90s, with the winds coming from the west at 5-10 mph.

"Orlando will reach a high of 95 degrees Sunday, with lower humidity and zero-percent coverage of rain," News 6 meteorologist Madeline Evans said. "We will have sunny skies with little to no cloud cover once again."

It's advised that people refrain from burning anything outside as Seminole, Orange and Osceola counties are under red flag warnings from 4 p.m. to midnight.

"Today's a great day to go to the beach and cool off in the water," Evans said.

Daytona will reach a high of 91 degrees, with the water temperature at 75 degrees. The seas are only 1-2 feet and there is a moderate rip current risk, so be sure to swim by a lifeguard.

Central Florida won't cool off as much Sunday night as it has for the past few nights. Temperatures will reach a low of 72 degrees under a mostly clear sky.

"Memorial Day is going to be even hotter," Evans said. "Orlando's high will be 97 and the record high for that day is 100 degrees."

With the humidity building, it will feel more like triple digits throughout the day. There will be sunny skies and no rain is expected.
