Heat index at 105; More storms forecast for Central Florida

Some storms could be strong

ORLANDO, Fla. – It's the same old forecast in Central Florida: heat and afternoon storms.

"The west coast sea breeze will fire up some storms for the afternoon drive in Central Florida on Thursday afternoon," Local 6 meteorologist Troy Bridges said.

The coverage will be 30 percent by noon and 40 percent by 2 p.m.

"A few storms will be strong, with heavy rain and wind gusts," Bridges said.  "Most rain ends after 8 o'clock at night."

Temperatures will rise quickly during the day, reaching 90 degrees by noon and 94 by 3 p.m., Bridges said.

"It will feel like 100 to 105 degrees," he added.  "Drink lots of water and take plenty of breaks if you're out in the heat for long."

Rain chances increase to 50 percent for the weekend, both days with highs in the mid-90s.
