Invest 99L continues to struggle, but chances for rain increase in Central Fla.

Chance of rain Sunday goes up from 40 percent to 50 percent

ORLANDO, Fla. – In the tropics, Invest 99L has our attention since it just off the coast of Cuba. This storm continues to struggle, but there is still a very strong likelihood that 99 will get bigger and stronger over the extra warm waters of the Gulf of Mexico. It will increase the chance of rain in Central Florida over the next three days, but is not expected to come to Central Florida.

Additionally, Gaston is out in the Atlantic and will stay there. No threat. Another area just south of Louisiana is not expected to become a tropical system and is headed toward Texas. And there is another area out in the open areas of the Atlantic due East of South Carolina that will not come to Florida and only has a 30 percent chance of becoming a tropical system.

Central Florida forecast

Showers are rolling inland off the Atlantic Ocean and when they mix with the heat of the land, we are seeing potential Storms popping up, especially around Brevard and Osceola counties.

Expect some downpours as usual and some thunder and lightning also. If skies look threatening, move inside.

Lots of heat Saturday. Many areas have hit the 90 mark and it feels like 99. If you don't get some relief from showers, you will have to wait for the sun to go down to feel cooler.

Lows Saturday night will drop to the mid 70's and feel very muggy.

Sunday, the chance of rain goes up from 40 percent to 50 percent, and jumps to 70 percent by Monday. Extra moisture provided by Invest 99L will pump into the atmosphere increasing the chance for rain and showers Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. High on Sunday will probably reach 91, despite the clouds and rain.
