Major warmup coming to Central Florida after cold snap

Orlando to see temps in 80s over weekend

ORLANDO, Fla. – Temperatures again dipped into the 30s in Central Florida early Wednesday, but a major warmup will soon hit the region, leading to high temps in the 80s by the weekend.

Freeze warnings have been issued until 10 a.m. Wednesday for Flagler, Marion, interior Volusia and Sumter counties, where temperatures dropped into the 20s.

Daytona Beach saw temperatures as low as 39 degrees, while Melbourne was in the 40s and Orlando dropped to 39 degrees.

"Later Wednesday we get much warmer, with the high in Orlando making it back to 67 degrees, with a 20 percent chance of rain," Local 6 meteorologist Troy Bridges said.

Early Thursday, the low in Orlando will be in the upper 50s, with highs later in the day around 77 degrees.

"You can turn in those winter coats for shorts and T-shirts this weekend when highs will near the mid-80s."

There's a 40 percent chance of rain in Central Florida on Thursday and a 20 percent chance on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
