Record heat expected in Central Florida

Orlando to see high of 95 degrees

ORLANDO, Fla. – Record heat is likely in Central Florida.

"High pressure continues to be a major factor in the forecast for the next day or so," News 6 meteorologist Troy Bridges said. "We see the area of high pressure off to our east, sending in those southeast winds. The wind will be light from 5 to 10 mph, but it will bring in plenty of warm, humid air that you will feel as soon as you step out the door."

Expect high temperatures to be close to, if not above, records across Central Florida. The high will reach 95 degrees in Orlando, which would tie the record set in 2011.

"It will feel more like triple digits," Bridges said.

The average high on this date is 85.

Highs will be in the low 90s on Saturday and Sunday.

With plenty of dry air in the mid-levels of the atmosphere, rain chances will be low.

"There's about a 10 percent chance of rain on Saturday and Sunday," he said.

Rain chances increase next week to 30 percent.

"Orlando is at a rainfall deficit of 7.93 inches," Bridges said.
