Storms damage 3 Edgewater homes

National Weather Service to survey damage

EDGEWATER, Fla. – Edgewater residents said the microburst took only seconds to destroy their yards and some homes Thursday afternoon.

"It only took about five to ten seconds for all this to happen," said Ray Del Greco. "We lost about four trees in the back. They fell across the power lines, so that took out the power in this area, pretty much."

Del Greco said his family thought it was something stronger than straight lined winds swirling on his street.

"Stuff had started to pick up and the wind blowing sideways and then she said oh my God, I think it's a tornado," he said.

Luckily, no tornado, but trees heavily damaged roofs and cars. Crews spent hours sawing stumps in half to get rid of the debris.

Frank Conrey disposed what he could, before calling in the professionals to remove a tree that snapped and fell on his roof.

"The wind was blowing about 60mph and all of a sudden, I heard a thug," said Conrey.

And with a hurricane brewing, residents said this microburst is giving them something to think about.

"We're keeping our eye on that because I'm thinking that, we're going to have some more stuff. But maybe the trees that were going to come down or already done," said Del Greco.
